paper, paper, PAPER!

So here are two of my recent pieces for my Senior Studio class. I had loved working with paper on my last project so I continued using it in these two pieces. For the first one I wanted to work again with the idea of a forest monster. This monster is a little evil and loves to steal the little girl's bunnies to have as his own pets... she wasn't going to let him this time!

Some close ups...

For this other piece I wanted to draw something a little different... by different I mean cats! I am a dog lover but I know there are some cat lovers out there. So heres the "Cat Lady"!

In other news, I graduate soon and am so excited!!!! C:

CUT OUTS!

So I have always wanted to try paper cutouts and over the past two weeks I did three pieces for senior studio. I wanted them to be based off kids games.

Here's "hide and seek"...

"duck, duck, goose"...

and "hopscotch".

I had lots of fun with these :).  There will be more paper cutouts to come in the future!

Forest Monsters!

I am very excited about a recent project I completed. I decided to combine my majors of Illustration and Art Education into one assignment. I had a group of Kindergarden students draw "forest monsters"; the results were wonderful!

I picked a few and drew inspiration from each to create an illustration of my own.

This first illustration was my absolute favorite. Although this student started their drawing over again once they realized it was quite small, I saw it as a "happy accident". I also found the shapes of the face to be very simplistic, yet hold a lot of character.

.... and here's my take on forest monsters!

Pups!

For my Web and Media class, we had to create an epub book of our choice. I decided I would illustrate a book on "10 Tips for a Perfect Pup". Here are the images from it :).

Little Animals!

I have been searching for various types of products that I can gear my illustrations towards, so I decided to open up the semester making a growth chart. I feel it would brighten a child's room up with cuteness!

Enjoy!

CCS Viewbook

Last year I was asked by the Art Education department to represent them in the College for Creative Studies Viewbook. It's composed of booklets that are sent out to represent the school and recruit future students. They placed pictures of art throughout every year we've attended CCS and they also include a photo of a piece that you entered from your high school portfolio (the little mermaid illustration in the corner.)

I'm glad I had the opportunity to be a part of it!

Here are a few pictures :):

And here's a little something I made, my boyfriend and I just celebrated birthdays that were a day apart. I gave this to him in a frame. Happy New Year everyone!

Noel Night

College for Creative Studies takes part in Detroit's Noel Night and this year I decided I'd enter the show. Here are some pictures of my table during set up. I sold prints, holiday cards and button earrings! The night was very successful and it was nice to meet some new faces. Thanks for everyone that came out and supported not only myself, but the arts!

Oh and one more thing... HAPPY HOLIDAYS! From my pup Charles, my love Dieter and I. If I were sending out cards this would be on them :). I hope everyone enjoys their time with family and friends!

"The Metamorphosis" by Franz Kafka

Here is a book cover assignment for my editorial painting class. It was based off the story "The Metamorphosis" by Franz Kafka.

A different color scheme, since the mood of the story isn't so bright and cheerful.
